NEUTRON'S (KNUTE'S) PAGE

Neutron (Knute) was living happily in Phoenix when his family decided, for whatever
reason, to move to Lake Havasu City. After the move, Knute developed some
allergies and the family thought it would be best for him to return to Phoenix, in hopes
that his allergies would go away, so they called
Rescue A Golden of Arizona to
surrender him. I was the one to pick up the transport and met the family in Quartzsite
and brought Neutron to a foster family in Glendale. During the ride home, and while I
was at the Foster home, Knute won my heart over. I could have brought him home
right then, but decided to let the process take it's natural course and left him with the
foster family, but made it known that if he didn't work out in that home, he could come
live with me.

Well, to make a long story short, it didn't work out, and a couple weeks after first
rescuing him, he came to live with me. I guess I could say he's the son I never had.

He adapted quickly to his new home, and just in time because he only stayed with
me for a week or so before I went on a 3-week vacation. When I returned home, he
was happy to see me.

Oh, I forgot to mention that while staying in his foster home, and while playing catch, he broke a toe on
his rear leg, so when I got him, he was in a cast up to his knee. Before the cast would be removed for
good, he broke the cast twice and was finally confined to a kennel until the broken toe mended. The cast
was finally removed on October 24, 2011, the cast was finally removed. Two weeks later another set of
X-Rays were taken and Knute was cleared to resume a normal life, which, for him, involves playing ball
24/7.

Knute's allergies seem to be subsiding a bit, but still haven't gone away completely, so it appears that he
may have been allergic to something indiginous to the Lake Havasu area, although I can't rule out other
things as being the culprit. Knute is also on thyroid medication, which could cause allergy-like symptoms,
and the vet thinks he may have a fungal infection, and that, too, is being treated. Somewhere amongst all
this, his scratching has subsided almost completely. So, I guess we'll wait and see.

Did I mention that this dog lives to play with his tennis balls. He'll keep putting them on your lap, in your
hand, at your feet, or even stuff it in your face, just so you'll keep throwing them for him. However, he does
listen pretty well when you tell him NO! He also knows his basic commands, but doesn't do so well on a
leash. We've been taking walks and he's gotten a little better at not tugging on the leash. All he needs it a
little more time and a lot more patience.

I haven't got a whole lot of pictures of him yet, and I'll try to keep this page pretty current, so, for now, here
are some of the pictures I do have to share.

ENJOY!
