I said it was a long time since I last visited the Griffith Park carousel,
but it's been much longer since I've been to Santa Monica Pier. As
you can see, the carousel is in pristine condition and as popular as
ever.
The most interesting thing I found was that you can buy a replica
carousel horse as part of the 100th Anniversary, for what I would
consider a very reasonable price. You can see the sign elsewhere on

Aside from the carousel, the Pier is every bit as entertaining as ever,
with thrill rides, food concessions and street performers. And let's not
forget the beach, which was really crowded on the day I was there.
