BOOMTOWN HOTEL AND CASINO
RENO, NEVADA
July 20, 2009
When I traveled to Reno I didn't know there was a carousel there, so
you can imagine my surprise when I found one at the Boomtown Hotel
& Casino. The carousel building made it quite obvious when I was
driving into town, so on my way back out of town I stopped to take a
look. The carousel has a pretty unique theme, that of early western
days. The chariots are buckboard wagons, and the scenery is of the
days of cowboys and indians. Atop the carousel is a bald eagle.
All-in-all, a very attractive carousel in very good condition.
Unfortunately, I stopped on my way back to Lake Tahoe, and it was late
in the afternoon, so the sun was bright in the windows, which made
photographing the carousel quite challenging.

The carousel is touted to be an antique carousel on the Boomtown
website, but after asking a few carousel enthusiasts, it appears that this
is a Fabricon carousel and not likely to be antique at all. It is, however,
a carousel worth seeing.
